The Mars 2020 rover, Perseverance, launched on July 30, 2020 and landed on Mars on Feb. 18, 2021. NASA's newest arrival on Mars, Perseverance will be collecting rock samples that a future mission will return to Earth.

The rover is studying the geology of its landing site on Mars, determining the habitability of the environment, searching for signs of ancient Martian life, and assessing natural resources and hazards for future human explorers.
