(Original essay)

(English translation)

In recent years, the Earth has been experiencing various problems and large-scale changes (mainly due to human action). Nowadays, the seriousness of this is so absurd that it is inevitable to accept that the end of humanity is brief. Because of these facts, one of the main goals of science today is to find some way to at least delay the beginning of the end.

One of the possibilities that focuses much is on the transformation of places of the universe, similar to the Earth, in places inhabitable for humanity, that is, change the cosmic address of men and make another star in our dwelling.

The universe is vast, so surely there are many planets very similar to ours. However, time is short, so we should research and explore places as close and similar as possible. Thus, within the Solar System, where it is most attainable for humanity, there are places like moons that have characteristics to shelter life, giving focus to a special moon that is in Saturn, called Titan.

Titan has oceans and lakes of methane and ethane, and it has hydrocarbon lakes at the poles, compounds that are responsible for the formation of oil, natural gas and mineral coal, which are very valuable things on Earth, and there is a lot of methane that is a source of power generation.

This moon is the only one in the Solar System with a developed atmosphere. It is composed mainly of nitrogen and other gases such as methane and carbon dioxide. There is no oxygen there, but this could be bypassed, for example, by taking cyanobacteria, which convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. The houses could be made from plastic produced from hydrocarbons and could consist of domes inflated by hot oxygen and nitrogen.

Water would also not be a problem on Titan. A survey by the University of Puerto Rico shows that this Moon has 11 times the amount of water in the surface oceans of the Earth. However, the temperature would be an obstacle, since the average of this satellite is of -170ºC, but the solution would be to put several satellites armed with mirrors around Titan. This would reflect the sunlight, which would ease the temperature. The gravity of it is 1,352m / s², that is, objects fall 10 times slower than on Earth.

The fact that there is ammonia and nitrogen on Titan could help in fertilizing gardens, and there would be no need for special atmospheric suits, just breathed and warm clothing for the cold. Therefore, it is a place that could house human beings.

With this exploration, we would learn much more about the described star and about the universe in general. As Neil Armstrong would say, "A small step for man, but a great leap for mankind."
