New Horizons

Launch: Jan. 19, 2006 - 19:00 UTC

NASA’s New Horizons was the first spacecraft to explore Pluto and the first spacecraft to make close observations of Kuiper Belt Objects, a region of icy debris that extend far beyond the orbit of Neptune. New Horizons completed its prime mission with a close flyby of Pluto and its collection of moons in July 2015. It is now en route to a second Kuiper Belt object and will arrive in 2019.
